Sea Day - Thursday 3 October

It was great to have a sleep-in this morning. I finally surfaced around 8:30 am, but David had awoken early as usual and made the most of the opportunity to get a big pile of washing done at 7 am, before anyone else was up and the usual laundry queue formed.

We enjoyed breakfast at a shared table and then headed to Deck 19 for a game of mini-golf. It was quite windy, and the ship was rocking a bit, which made putting interesting. David beat me, but we both felt just a little queasy from the movement of the ship and bending over to pick up the golf balls. I decided to pre-empt the feeling getting worse and took a couple of Sea Legs. The sea was relatively calm, really, (just a little choppy) but the ship's movement was sufficient to affect me. I noticed more than one person looking a little 'seedy' though the day.

We read our books up on Deck 15 (quite windy and a bit cooler today). We couldn't help but notice the water in the swimming pool sloshing all over the place, just like in some of the videos of swimming pools during Christchurch earthquakes. Then headed inside to the atrium area for cappuccinos and more reading. Then I worked some more on the blog.

I had pre-ordered a gluten-free pizza last night, from the pizzeria, for lunch at 1 pm today. That was nice for a change. Then Jan and I caught up in the Crown Grill where it was advertised that Bridge could be played. However there was already one table of four people playing, and not enough of us to make another table. So I headed back to David, still reading on Deck 15.

At 3 pm, a fellow Cruise Critic Ruby Princess Roll Call member (Harvey) had organised another Meet and Greet, and I enjoyed an hour and a half meeting some more of the group.

Tonight was another formal night and we enjoyed a table for four with Jan and Steve, before going to a show with comedian, George Casey, who was telling Irish jokes. During this we were sailing through the Straits of Messina, between Sicily and the mainland of Italy. We were pleased to have another time zone change overnight, gaining back the hour we lost a week ago. Yay!
